Our Story – From a College Dorm Room to a Global Brand

BLENDi began in 2016 with a simple idea from college student Jon Katz: making healthy smoothies should be possible anywhere, without needing a traditional blender, an electrical outlet, or a kitchen countertop.

The inspiration came from a familiar frustration. Jon was tired of dealing with lumpy protein shakes at the gym and realized that existing blending solutions did not offer the convenience he wanted. He envisioned a compact, portable blender that could deliver smooth and consistent drinks wherever people needed them.

With this vision in mind, Jon started developing BLENDi in his dorm room at Springfield College. What began as a small student project gradually evolved into an innovative product concept with the potential to change the way people prepare their everyday beverages.

Our Journey of Innovation

BLENDi's development has been shaped by continuous experimentation, engineering collaboration, and a commitment to improving portable blending technology.

December 2016 – The First Prototype

Working alongside engineer Pat Vincenti, Jon created the first experimental prototype using a drill battery and trigger mechanism attached to a modified blender. Although the early design was simple and unconventional, it demonstrated that a handheld cordless blender could become a reality.

Early 2017 – The First Investor Presentation

Jon introduced BLENDi to potential investors for the first time, bringing along the original prototype and a strong belief that portable blending represented the future of convenient beverage preparation.

May 2017 – The Final Prototype

After collaborating with 11 engineers from the University of Massachusetts (UMass), BLENDi completed its final prototype. The result was a more powerful, compact, and production-ready design that brought the original concept closer to becoming a commercial product.

2017 – The First 300 Units Sold Out

BLENDi's first production batch of 300 units quickly sold out, demonstrating genuine customer interest and encouraging the brand to continue developing its products.

2022 – The BLENDi Pro+ Launch

The introduction of BLENDi Pro+ raised the brand's performance standards with increased blending power, improved ice-crushing capabilities, and a selection of 10 different colors designed to suit various personal styles and lifestyles.

May 2026 – The BLENDi Steel Launch
