Demon United wasn't created in a corporate boardroom. It was born from a lifetime of riding.

The brand was founded by two brothers who grew up together in California in the early 1980s, riding motorcycles, skiing, snowboarding, and BMX. They experienced the excitement of action sports firsthand—and, just as importantly, they experienced the falls.

As snowboarding began taking shape around them, they spent countless days chasing fresh powder and exploring the mountains. Those years of riding, experimenting, and taking hard hits planted the idea behind Demon: create the protective equipment they wished they had when they were learning and riding themselves.

Growing Up in Tahoe Snow

In the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, legendary Tahoe-area resorts such as Boreal, Kirkwood, and Squaw Valley became important parts of the brothers' snowboarding journey. These mountains provided the perfect environment to experience the early days of snowboarding, learn through trial and error, and understand just how important quality protection could be.

Every fall became a lesson. Every impact revealed an opportunity to improve.

That experience ultimately inspired the development of products designed not only to protect riders but also to allow them to ride with greater confidence.

The Stomplock Breakthrough

Demon's early journey was anything but guaranteed. When the brothers decided to take their product to the SIA Snowsports trade show in Las Vegas, they put everything they had into making it happen.

They invested all of their available money into exhibiting their Stomplock product, knowing that if it didn't sell, the future of the company could be at risk.

Instead, the product exceeded expectations.

Stomplock sold 5,000 units in its first year, transforming an ambitious idea into a growing action-sports brand. What began with two brothers and a passion for riding became a company with manufacturing in Utah and customers around the world.

Expanding Across Action Sports

As Demon continued to grow, the company expanded far beyond snowboarding. Its expertise in protection evolved across a wide range of action sports, including:
