In 2015, after spending days washing dishes following their large Thanksgiving celebrations, the family decided to try disposable tableware the following year. However, they quickly discovered a problem: there were plenty of disposable options, but very few that felt elegant enough to proudly display on a beautifully set table.

Instead of settling for ordinary disposable plates, they decided to create their own.

This idea became the beginning of Sophistiplate. The brand's signature scalloped paper plates quickly gained popularity and even became a favorite of Oprah, helping introduce Sophistiplate's beautifully designed tableware to a much wider audience.
